I’m Joshua Tagg, proud owner of Mortgages For Less.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I grew up in Calgary and went to school at the University of Calgary.

I have been interested in the business since I was a teenager. My father was always an entrepreneur and began working in the mortgage industry when I was in university. When I graduated in 2006, I started working with him to help build and grow the business. My degree included finance courses but was focused on information services which have served me very well given the online nature of the mortgage business. After my father’s retirement, I took over the business and have since been running it.

As a mortgage broker, I make sure each client gets the best mortgage rate and terms available on the market. I work for eight to ten hours each day and I am available to clients twelve hours a day. My day begins with reviewing emails and prioritizing mortgage applications or purchase contracts that were signed the evening before. Throughout the day, I aim to answer every phone call and respond to the online mortgage applications within an hour.

My primary responsibility is to take care of my clients. I am always available to them and I try to answer the phone all the time. In between calls and working on my client’s mortgages, I market the business, build relationships with realtors, lawyer and other professionals that benefit my clients.

Talking to new people every day is the highlight of my work. I really enjoy getting to know so many people and being able to help most of them. I also enjoy the mental puzzles so when complex cases land on my desk I enjoy finding solutions to help those clients.

As an entrepreneur, I admire Amazon. I am very impressed with how they have figured out how to make the online shopping experience both painless and inexpensive. With next-day or same week delivery, there is not much that can’t be ordered online to save the time of going to a store like WalMart. They also have so many unique items that would be difficult to source in a traditional retail store. The vision they had back in 1995 and the execution to date is admirable.

Away from work, I am the director of a non-profit foundation called “Cultiva International,” a gardening and basic sanitation teaching and support program located in the mountains of Guatemala. This program helps some of the poorest and most at-risk families in Guatemala and is raising the overall level of skills and education in their communities. My family recently spent a year working with the program and we are excited about its progress. As a director, I hope to help the expand program to other communities in the country.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise in mortgage services in Calgary, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.mortgagebrokercalgary.ca.
